Does converting JPG to PNG create a transparent background?
No. JPG has no alpha channel, so converting to PNG only changes the container — the original white or coloured background is kept.
Why is WEBP noticeably smaller?
WEBP uses a more efficient compression algorithm and is typically 25–35% smaller than JPG at comparable visual quality, which makes it ideal for websites.
Does conversion reduce quality?
